- We in Jerusalem rejoice with the people of Berlin as they
- watch the Wall come tumbling down (WORLD, Nov. 20). But we
- perhaps have more reason than others. You describe Berlin as the
- only city in the 20th century that "had a wall rammed through
- its innards." Unfortunately, another shared that distinction:
- Jerusalem, which from 1948 to 1967 had walls, barbed wire and
- minefields in its midst. It was a sad place. United Jerusalem
- is not without problems, but it is thriving, exciting and very
- beautiful.
